2019 Kickoff Be Better Than Yesterday

Fathom’s annual kick-off—held January 3rd and 4th of this year—is an essential part of our company culture because it is meaningful time set aside to reconnect with fellow employees while setting intentions for the year ahead. This company-wide event was particularly special because the team celebrated ten years of award-winning advanced manufacturing with incredible customers who are changing their world with their inventions and innovations.

The team has set its sights even higher this year following Fathom’s best year yet. As part of our continued commitment to offering industry-leading prototyping and manufacturing services, this year’s company theme of Be Better Than Yesterday” best embodied our attitude for chapter ahead.

During the two-day celebration, Fathomers met to review results and highlights of 2018, discuss goals for 2019, participate in team activities and listen to motivational words from guest speakers.

ANNUAL PEER-TO-PEER AWARD CEREMONY //

Each year, the creative minds on Fathom’s design and engineering team make unique trophies for the employee nominated award ceremony. Fathomers take time during December to acknowledge each other’s contributions made throughout the year. Those with the most nominations per category receive a custom trophy during the kick-off. This year, they worked with both our additive manufacturing and CNC machining production teams to create a design that embodied last year’s company-wide theme of “CONNECT.”

From the photos above, you can see that the design embraces a blended approach of multiple technologies, leveraging Adobe Photoshop, color 3D printing on a Stratasys J750 and CNC machining—check out below which Fathomers were honored for their work in 2018.

THIS YEAR’S KICK-OFF SPEAKERS //

Every year, Fathom’s kick-off includes inspiring speakers who share their experiences and advice with us. Past years include Carl Bass of Autodesk, Ping Fu, Bryan McLean of Laika, Jeff Hanson of Stratasys and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.

Doug Warner is the Global Head of Hewlett-Packard (HP) Tech Vision, Strategy and Incubations.

He has worked with HP Since 2001 in Print, Personal Systems and Corp Tech and Strategy. Warner is a passionate senior executive with more than 20 years of experience leveraging new and emerging digital technologies to drive disruptive innovation. His proven track record in new business creation and innovation from vision, strategy and product concept through to commercialization was inspiring.

Mike North is a science storyteller, innovation keynote speaker, tech evangelist and Discovery Channel host for Prototype This!, Outrageous Acts of Science and In The Making.

He is an undaunted, anything-but-mild innovator fusing engineering and science with empathy and creativity. North opens doors to new solutions, awe-inspiring experiences and radical paradigm shifts. He travels the world discovering and filming transformational technology and it was a lot of fun he took time to be a part of our 10-year celebration.
